Upper Limb Therapy
Upper limb therapy is used by Occupational Therapists to treat a variety of conditions affecting the upper limb and hand. Interventions can involve passive and active range of movement exercises of the upper limb and hand to facilitate increases in function. Other therapies may involve the fabrication of a splint to assist with the management of spasticity, hypotonia, burns and musculoskeletal injury.
Upper limb therapy may be used to treat people experiencing various conditions including arthritis, fractures, brain injury, burns, carpel tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow and musculoligamentous injuries.
MK Health’s clinicians have highly developed skills in the provision of upper limb assessments and interventions. Our treatment room is fully equipped and ensures that patients have access to all the therapy aids required to assist with their recovery.
Our clinicians are also able to complete home based upper limb therapy interventions to accommodate patients who have difficulty accessing our clinic. Home based therapy provides a unique opportunity to assess an individual’s upper limb function whilst performing daily activities and is used regularly by our clinicians to develop tailored home activity programs.
